THURSDAY
MAY.17

1Samuel 22:1 (GNB), Genesis 40:5-7 (GNB)
David fled … and went to a cave ... When his brothers and .. family heard that he was there, they joined him. People who were oppressed or in debt or dissatisfied went to him, about four hundred men in all, and he became their leader. *One night there in prison the wine steward and the chief baker each had a dream, ... When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were upset. He asked them, "Why do you look so worried today?"

Author PhotoThe mighty strength of God is always available to you in Christ if you are ready to abundantly receive it for yourself. God strengthens us on the inside by His Spirit, Eph.3:16. In Psalm 29:11, David said, “the LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.” In the midst of circumstances that are intended to make you weak and troubled, you will be strong and at peace because God will grant you His strength and peace. People are going to be amazed and wonder at the source of your strength and peace. I see God granting you His strength and peace in the same way He granted it to David and Joseph in our texts above.

David had been running away from Saul and had just escaped from a king by pretending to be mad, 1Sam.21:10-15. Now, he was hiding in a 'cave' but instead of being weighed down by everything going wrong in his life, David became a leader and source of strength and hope to all kinds of frustrated people that came around him. David was a man that knew how to encourage himself in the Lord, 1Sam.30:6. In Psalm 18:32, David said, “He is the God who makes me strong, who makes my pathway safe. Joseph was also in prison in a foreign land after being betrayed by his brothers and recently by Potiphar's wife, but that did not stop him from working diligently and even interpreting the dreams of others right there in the prison. Despite what you may be going through, I see God strengthening and using you to give hope to others.

PRAYER FOCUS:  Receive God's mighty strength right now. Pray for others and ask God to use you to strengthen them.
